Missionary Spotlight:

William Nathaniel
William

MOUNTAIN VIEW - "I thought that all Christians were Baptists all over the world," William Nathaniel says. "I was born in a village in northern India where I attended a school started by Swedish Baptist missionaries in the late 1800s. My parents were Christians.

"I had always thought that only white people lived in America," William continued. "I brought some Indian spices with me when I came to this country so that I would have something to eat. However, I was surprised when I came here to Berkeley. I could not believe that there was a whole street full of stores for Indian people. I was surprised to find so many Indians right in front of my own doorstep."

When William realized there were many Indians living in California, he stopped thinking about going home to finish his studies. He did exactly what God had trained him to do in India - he started a Bible study in Daly City with seven families from India and Pakistan. "I have always been an evangelist, even as a child. Swedish Baptists have a strong emphasis on evangelism," William said. "When I came here, my evangelistic passion came back. I get excited when I am in a crowd."

MissionInsite Demographic Resources

MissionInsite provides a powerful collection of demographic resources to the local church or to the new church starter. This free service is made possible through Cooperative Program gifts and is Web based, making it accessible to any CSBC church or church starter with Internet access. Every church will have a unique password. If the church chooses, the members can do their own analysis of the church's ministry area. A church is able to customize the target area, look for unique opportunities or capture a summary of the entire area.

With a brief orientation to the Website, the church leader(s) can produce reports to be used in planning and strategy meetings. There is no limit to the number of reports a church can produce.

Learn how MissionInsite can help you - MissionInsite has all the tools you need to conduct your own demographic discovery and analysis in real time.

For 10 weeks this summer, California Southern Baptist churches will join hands and hearts to minister to the physical and spiritual needs of migrant workers and residents of impoverished California communities, primarily in the San Joaquin Valley.

During the summer, 30 California Migrant Centers and/or communities will be ministered to through:

distribution of food (including flour, corn meal, sugar, beans, rice and milk) to low income farm workers and families,

distribution of clothing (including one pair of shoes, one pair of pants, two shirts and backpacks with school supplies) to children (ages 4-12),

distribution of a backpack and school supplies to teens (ages 13-17),

evangelistic events such as Vacation Bible School, and
