It has been wonderful to hear what a great summer most of our churches have been experiencing. We especially have had some great reports of how VBS has been going, with good attendance and lots of decisions for Christ. It is so good to hear these reports. Praise the Lord for the good and merciful work he continues to do.

Another thing I would like to share with you is about a new ministry for our churches that is being made available in the Bay Area. Dave and Brook Maturo are new missionaries in the Bay Area and they have come at the invitation of the CSBC Mission Strategist who works in the Bay Area, and the Bay Area Southern Baptist Director of Missions. Brook is starting an Administrative Hub and Dave a Missional Hub.

The Administrative Hub should be a great help to churches who can't afford a full time secretary or bookkeeper. They will offer communication services, membership databases, newsletters, mailings, phone answering, promotional services, printing, design services, bookkeeping, giving records, giving reports, payroll, bill payments, financial reports, and general office management. You can pick and choose the services you need and the fee is very low for the Bay Area. There is also some short time scholarships available. Contact Jack at 925 864-2033 if you would like to get more information.

The Missional Hub is also very exciting. Dave will be coordinating mission teams with churches that have needs, and recruiting interns to come and serve in the Bay Area.

I would also like to share with you that I am offering some one-on-one coaching for any pastors that would like to go through the program with me. I'm offering two programs one is "How to Intentionally Plan for Church Growth" and the other is "Working with Difficult People". Again call me if you are interested.

Lastly, I know how difficult the recession is making life for all of you, but I would like to encourage you to not forget your mission giving, even if you have to reduce it. One dollar can make a difference. Every dollar can make a difference in the world Jesus love so. Please continue to give it to the Cooperative Program and your CostaMeda Baptist Association. Southern Baptists initiated the Cooperative Program in 1925 as a way for churches to share in the support of mission efforts around the world. Today the Cooperative Program supports more than 10,000 International and North American missionaries as well as other ministries. Our association has started 21 new churches and successfully done three church restarts in the last ten years.

Thank you for your prayers and support,

Jack Roberts

Missionary Reaches Out to Afghans in California
Missionary Spotlight: Jason Williams

BAY AREA - "Afghans in North America are just as unreached as Afghans in Afghanistan," Jason Williams* declares. "I speak in churches on Sundays, building awareness that will break down the barrier of fear separating God's people from Afghans. The church needs to get used to the Afghan people, reach out to them, and get to know them."

Jason Williams, language church starting strategist with the California Southern Baptist Convention (CSBC) church starting group, is taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the Afghan people. Although serving as a statewide strategist, Jason spends most of his time building relationships within the Bay Area Afghan community, estimated by some to be the largest concentration of Afghans outside of Afghanistan and Pakistan.
