Disaster Relief Response: Japan

The disaster relief coordinator for the Fresno-based California Southern Baptist Convention has been asked to help Japanese Baptists establish an Incident Command System to aid victims of the March earthquake and tsunami which struck the island nation.

Don Hargis, who has responded to international disasters (India floods, Haiti earthquake and Indonesia/Thailand earthquake/tsunami), will depart Fresno on Tuesday, April 5 for the 10-day assignment. He will work with the Japanese Baptist Convention and Tokyo Baptist Church in setting up and implementing an administrative system to assure the most effective use of resources.

Church Without Shoes
Church WithOut Shoes

I want to highly recommend an event that is coming to our area. On May 17th (afternoon-evening) to May 18th 2011. Church Without Shoes (several of our churches are part of this organization) will be hosting a 3dM Taster. We want you to consider being a part of this initial experience. Our general experience is that people are quite intrigued by Missional Communities, the success we've seen with them and the culture of discipleship the churches we've worked with have been able to create. Because of this, most people want to explore a little further before joining either a Coaching track or a Learning Community. We would not expect you to invest in this kind of journey without a "test drive," so we invite you to sign up for one of our free, two-day Taster Retreats.

The deadline to register is MAY 1st.
